SERVICE CHARGES AND DEPOSITS

Commercial

There is no soft credit check done for commercial. It is automatically the highest bill of the last 12 months of the service address times 2.

The applicant will receive the deposit back after 1 year of on time payments, or 2 years (max) if late fees have been applied to the account.

Residential

SERVICE CHARGES

Upon applying for services, there is a $20, $30, or $40 service fee based on the service(s) at that location. This fee is non-refundable.

DEPOSIT TIERS

EUB utilizes a soft credit check to determine deposit amounts required of applicants.  The credit check places the applicant into one of three deposit requirement tiers: waive, medium, and max. We use the highest bill from the last 12-months of the service address to determine the amount.

Waive: No deposit required. Just the connection fee of the services at the location.

Medium: Highest bill of the last 12-months, plus the connection fee of the services at the location.

Max: Highest bill of the last 12-months times 2, plus the connection fee of the services at the location

The applicant will receive the deposit back after 1 year of on time payments, or 2 years (max) if late fees have been applied to the account.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHEN DO I GET THE DEPOSIT BACK?

After 12 consecutive months of on-time payments the deposit will be credited to your account. If there are any penalties within the first 12-months you will get the deposit back after 2 years.

I’M MOVING OUT OF THE EUB SERVICE AREA. HOW IS MY DEPOSIT HANDLED?

The deposit will be applied to the final read-out bill. If the deposit is more than the final bill, we will mail you a check, but we must have a good forwarding address. If the bill is more than the deposit, you will get a final bill for the remaining balance after the deposit was applied.

CAN MY DEPOSIT BE USED TO PAY MY BILL IN A MONTH WHERE I’M SHORT ON FUNDS?

Unfortunately, the answer is no. The only exception would be if you fell within the no penalties within the 12-month probationary time, or after the 2 years if you were to have late penalties added within the 12-month probationary period.

MY UTILITY SERVICES WERE DISCONNECTED BECAUSE I HAVEN’T PAID MY BILL. WHAT HAPPENS TO MY DEPOSIT?

If you pay your total balance before we finalize your account as closed because of nonpayment (within ten days of your utilities being disconnected for nonpayment), your original deposit will stay on record on the same account.

If you do not pay within the ten days, and we finalize your account, then the deposit will be used to cover your final account balance. At this point, to get service again you will need to pay all outstanding balances and have a soft credit check ran to determine the new deposit.
