We are happy to report that the Etowah Drinking Water taste is back to normal. Our laboratory testing confirms a big improvement in a reduction of the causative taste and odor agents to be below the level that many people can detect the “earthy’ taste and smell. We are working to better understand what changed in the river water and see if it can be prevented. We certainly hope that problem does not reoccur but we are looking at possible treatment options should we need them again.
We appreciate the Tennessee Valley Authority working with us to increase the flow in the Hiwassee River this Summer. We feel this increased flow helps prevent the algae from growing in the river and causing the problem. We certainly appreciate our customers understanding during this situation and we plan to continue to provide the best service we can to you.
